Job Description

As an SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) at PhonePe, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of large features and products. You will ensure the end-user experience is top-notch and oversee the quality metrics across releases. You will work independently, define your execution path, and manage conflicting priorities to meet deadlines. Your role will involve leading change, building strong relationships with peers, and solving problems logically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the quality of large features, products, and services, ensuring they meet user expectations.
  • Independently define the execution path for testing efforts, considering external dependencies and managing conflicting priorities.
  • Evangelize the need for change and continuously improve processes and testing efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth execution and delivery of quality products.
  • Break medium-sized testing tasks into smaller sub-tasks for better manageability and efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the testing process and take steps to eliminate them.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the quality assurance domain.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education. BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent).

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in software development and testing, with strong people management skills.
  • Strong experience in automation for UI, mobile applications, API, web, and performance testing.
  • Experience with automation tools like Espresso, XCUITest, Appium, Selenium, Rest-Assured, and Locust.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong programming skills, proficient in at least one object-oriented programming or scripting language (e.g., Java, Python, Swift).
  • Experience with performance testing and exposure to non-functional testing.
  • Experience in testing mobile apps (iOS and Android).
  • Exposure to DevOps tech stack like Docker, Jenkins, Mesos, and Marathon.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple test executions simultaneously and report results effectively.
