The Senior Software Engineer and systems Infrastructure will work with LinkedIn’s logging platform, a critical infrastructure responsible for managing the high volume of logs generated by LinkedIn applications. You will play a key role in designing and developing scalable, high-performance systems that operate 24x7, ensuring that logs are efficiently collected, processed, enriched, and stored. Responsibilities
- Design and Build Observability Solutions. Develop scalable, high-volume performing systems to provide observability across LinkedIn's infrastructure and applications.
- System Infrastructure Management. Focus on building reliable, efficient system infrastructures that handle high concurrency, providing real-time observability.
- Collaborative Feature Development. Work with peers, tech leads, and product teams to define, scope, prioritize, and build impactful features at a high velocity.
- Code Quality. Ensure that software is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly, supporting continuous integration practices.
- System Performance and Reliability. Address challenges around system reliability and performance, particularly in high-concurrency environments.
- Leverage Open-Source Tools. Work with technologies like Fluent Bit and Apache log4j, integrating them with LinkedIn’s logging infrastructure.
- Cross-Organizational Collaboration. Collaborate across teams and organizational boundaries to build efficient, scalable solutions that impact LinkedIn’s entire platform.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience in object-oriented or functional programming languages.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing distributed systems, databases, large-scale data systems, and/or Backend APIs.
- Proficiency in building scalable systems that handle high volumes of data and traffic.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions.
- Strong programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, Go, etc.
- Familiarity with Observability Technologies. Experience with tools like OpenTelemetry, Fluent Bit, Grafana, Prometheus, etc., is highly desirable.
- Expertise in large-scale distributed system design and understanding of the infrastructure required to maintain performance and reliability at scale.
