Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior IP Verification Engineer to join our Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team. This role will play a crucial part in supporting Microsoft’s expanding cloud infrastructure and will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of silicon solutions for the Cobalt program.
As part of the Cloud Compute Development Organization (CCDO), you will lead the verification of complex IP, SOCs, and subsystems, working closely with teams across Microsoft to deliver high-quality silicon solutions. Your work will be at the forefront of innovation, applying industry-leading verification methodologies and tools, including Generative AI for verification processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Verification Efforts. Take ownership of complex verification flows at the SOC, subsystem, or IP levels, ensuring that silicon solutions meet the highest standards of quality.
- Tool Integration. Use and contribute to industry-leading verification tools, including Generative AI verification tools, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in verification workflows.
- Cross-functional Collaboration. Work with design teams to understand complex systems and define verification strategies and comprehensive test plans.
- Simulation and Debugging. Develop test environments, simulate different scenarios, and debug failures to ensure high-quality silicon design.
- Verification Techniques. Apply advanced verification methodologies, including random-stimulus, coverage-based, and formal verification, to identify potential bugs and achieve test plan goals.
- Innovation in Verification. Explore and implement new verification methodologies and techniques to drive efficiency and productivity.
- Mentoring. Coach and mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and helping them enhance their verification skills.

Qualifications
- Experience. Minimum of 5 years of pre-silicon SOC, chip-level, subsystem, or IP verification experience.
- Education. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred
- Technical Expertise. Knowledge of one or more of the following domains: coherency, caches, fabrics, reset, power management, DFD (Design for Debug), DDR controllers, virtualization, security, PCIe, CXL, USB, AXI/CHI protocol bridges, and other complex IP/blocks or subsystems.
- Leadership Experience. Proven track record of creating schedules, leading cross-functional teams, and solving complex technical problems.
- Full Product Cycle Verification. Experience in writing test plans, developing tests, debugging failures, and achieving coverage signoff for multiple product cycles.
- Test Bench and Automation. Proficiency in creating, maintaining, and integrating test benches, checkers, and stimulus using SystemVerilog Test Bench (SVTB), UVM, or C. Experience in automating verification processes using Python or similar scripting languages.
- Formal Verification. Experience with Formal Verification techniques is a plus.
