As a Senior Engineering Manager for Domain Applied ML (DAML) at Google, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading a new team focused on applied machine learning research. This role involves overseeing the development of high-impact projects, contributing to strategic planning, and collaborating with other teams to drive the adoption of innovative AI technologies across Google’s product ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead a new team of ML engineers and researchers based in London.
- Manage and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and oversee the strategic direction for the team, focusing on emerging areas in applied ML research.
- Collaborate with Google Research and DeepMind to identify and prioritize emerging research areas and opportunities.
- Develop a strategic roadmap to translate research findings into practical, scalable solutions.
- Drive the adoption of new AI technologies across Google’s diverse product offerings.
Project Management
- Contribute to product strategy and project goals, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives.
- Oversee the execution of high-impact projects, optimizing team performance and project outcomes.
- Ensure that research and development efforts are effectively integrated into Google’s product ecosystem.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development with proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role, including team management and supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience working within a complex, matrixed organization.
- Proven track record of leading applied ML research and development projects.
