Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer with a solid background in quality management systems and aerospace standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring supplier compliance and quality assurance processes, specifically focusing on AS9100 standards and related quality management frameworks. This role requires excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to working with global suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with suppliers worldwide, utilizing strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Collins Quality Management System, AS9102, AS9110, and AS9100 standards.
  • Familiarity with AS13001 standard and its delegation process.
  • Understand and review Collins' purchase order requirements.
  • Onboard suppliers to the approved supplier list.
  • Review and comprehend Collins' drawing requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Manage configuration control, customer flow-down, and traceability for suppliers.
  • Verify adherence to special process specifications and NADCAP requirements.
  • Conduct hands-on inspections and possess a solid understanding of electronic/electric PCBs and components.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes, work instructions, tools, and equipment in accordance with Collins' operating procedures.
  • Analyze acceptance test data, including testing results, equipment identification numbers, and calibration details.
  • Maintain knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and materials science (MS).
  • Review and approve sub-tier supplier processes and controls, including material obsolescence lists and alternate approvals.
  • Oversee Qualified Distributor List (QDL) approval processes and IPC requirements.
  • Exhibit strong project planning and management skills.
  • Facilitate the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) effectively.
  • Assess change history and MRB (Material Review Board) approvals from the Strategic Business Unit (SBU).
  • Manage concessions, Supplier Reporting Issues (SRIs), permits, and Notices of Exemption (NOEs).
  • Prepare executive summaries for suppliers and present them at SBU critical supplier reviews.
  • Identify and eliminate risks that could hinder supplier performance.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to address and rectify identified gaps.
  • Utilize measuring instruments and inspection checklists to ensure quality standards.
  • Implement Supplier RRCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) processes.
  • Use Net Inspect (or equivalent inspection software) for quality inspections and documentation.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems and AS9100 standards.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing processes and first article inspection (FAI).
  • Proficiency in supplier management and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Hands-on experience with measuring instruments and inspection methodologies.
