Job Description

As a senior member of our Agile team, you will drive consistent development practices, collaborate closely with Product Owners, and play a pivotal role in technical development and support for our applications. Your expertise will help shape the future direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence at American Express.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and refine business features, ensuring they align with design and build activities.
  • Perform all technical development, including architecture, design, and prototyping, while supporting platform upgrades.
  • Provide hands-on architecture knowledge and participate in design reviews alongside technical architects.
  • Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across testing, integration, and production environments.
  • Mentor and manage junior and senior engineers through ongoing sprints.
  • Contribute to the direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence initiatives at American Express.
  • Experience with Microstrategy and Google Cloud Platform is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of software development experience with strong analytical and programming skills, particularly in production environments.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Python, Big Data Technologies (Spark/Hive), Microstrategy, Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, DataProc, GCS).
  • Familiarity with Tableau is advantageous.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using tools such as Jenkins, Git, Stash, and Jira.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business partners in a dynamic environment.
