Job Description
As a Senior Data Engineer at BlackBerry, you will join our global Data Architecture team and collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Database Automation, to build robust data collection and processing pipelines. Your primary responsibility will involve supporting users for BlackBerry's cybersecurity platforms and products, translating diverse data requirements into actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Translate data requirements from requestors into effective data solutions.
- Identify, collect, clean, analyze, and model large volumes of complex data in a distributed fashion.
- Interpret data analysis results and generate actionable reports.
- Design and implement tools, data models, and dashboards for data visualization and monitoring.
- Develop Automated Reporting Solutions to streamline processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems independently.
- Mentor and train junior data analysts.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies, attending relevant training and conferences.
- Prioritize and complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect BlackBerry operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher degree preferred; relevant experience may substitute for educational qualifications.
- 8-12 years of experience as a data engineer.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Databricks.
- Proficiency in SQL programming.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Coding skills in Python and Scala are preferred.
- Experience processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data, both in batches and real-time streaming.
- Familiarity with distributed processing systems, with Apache Spark experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL systems.
- Experience deploying and configuring infrastructure in public clouds such as AWS.
