Job Description

As a key member of this team, you will work closely with local and global teams to identify and assess regional risks, implement policies and controls, and ensure regulatory compliance across the region. This is a strategic role that requires you to proactively stay ahead of emerging risks and provide high-level insights to leadership, including risk committees and the board of directors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the centralized Risk and Compliance program for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This includes working with local teams to assess, monitor, and mitigate compliance and risk challenges specific to the region.
  • Align with local risk and compliance, audit, legal, and other cross-functional teams to understand and escalate local risks. Ensure proper reporting and remediation of these risks through effective governance processes.
  • Monitor local regulatory trends, emerging risks, and industry benchmarks. Regularly provide insights to leadership on how these trends may impact Google compliance standing and propose proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee risk management programs related to suppliers, ensuring suppliers meet Google’s expectations for compliance. This involves conducting supplier audits, testing controls, handling escalations, and ensuring that risk events are managed effectively.
  • Prepare and present reports on regional risk issues to the board of directors and executive leadership, including risk committees. Ensure that senior leadership is well-informed about potential risks and the actions required to mitigate them.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in building, leading, or managing compliance and risk management programs.
  • Prior experience working in a regional or global risk and compliance function, or in an advisory, consultant, or auditor role within publicly traded companies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading and building teams across multiple countries and cultures within the APAC region, fostering a collaborative and high-performance compliance culture.
  • Strong experience in preparing and presenting risk assessments, updates, and strategies to boards of directors and other executive leadership teams, including risk committees.
  • Proven experience in handling complex regulatory matters with an emphasis on risk mitigation and compliance under tight deadlines and within changing legal frameworks.

About the Team. The Google Compliance Team plays a crucial role in ensuring that Google’s business practices align with the latest regulatory requirements, maintaining the company’s integrity and reputation. The Risk and Compliance team specifically manages Alphabet’s compliance across its contingent workforce globally, with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in legal, regulatory, and operational domains.

You will be a key driver of compliance efforts in the APAC region, collaborating with diverse teams and bringing innovative solutions to complex regulatory challenges.
