As a Hardware Quality Engineer at Google, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the quality of the hardware systems that power our extensive computing infrastructure. From circuit design to large system development, you'll oversee projects that impact millions of users worldwide.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in cross-functional management developing consumer electronics.
  • Experience in product quality control systems, quality compliance matrix, quality governance, quality statistical methods, or cosmetic criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of statistical quality control such as Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of consumer hardware development and manufacturing processes, vendor relations, and working with Contract Manufacturers.
  • Understanding of technology at the system and commodity level as well as software and usability.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, and R language.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-site suppliers to ensure adherence to daily quality processes and systems, including managing incoming materials, production quality control, and continuous improvement actions.
  • Manage factory quality issues, overseeing failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective action processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with on-site operation teams and Shenzhen suppliers to resolve emergency issues promptly.
  • Define and implement product cosmetic specifications and quality inspection plans, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Drive the implementation of the Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control methodologies to evaluate cost-effectiveness and meet manufacturing quality objectives.
