Job Description

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer at American Express, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robustness, security, and efficiency of our global network infrastructure. You will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, leveraging your expertise to drive excellence in network design, deployment, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Vulnerability Assessment. Conduct regular assessments of our network infrastructure to identify and mitigate potential security risks. Analyze vulnerability scan results with precision to safeguard against threats.
  2. Technical Requirement Meetings. Engage with customers and carriers to understand technical requirements and participate in design reviews, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  3. Network Deployment and Changes. Partner with carriers to plan and execute changes for new connections, migrations, or decommissioning activities on our Global Carrier-Managed MPLS WAN. Execute changes on SD-WAN networks, core infrastructure, and IPSec Internet VPN platforms.
  4. Code Upgrades and Hardware Refreshes. Perform upgrades of network hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to industry standards.
  5. Network Design Projects. Contribute to global network design initiatives, leveraging your expertise to enhance scalability, resilience, and performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience deploying and supporting medium-to-large scale WAN and LAN networks.
  • Strong proficiency in Cisco routing and switching platforms, with exposure to Arista being advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of IP and associated protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP), BGP, MPBGP, OSPF, and switching technologies.
  • Familiarity with Security and Encryption concepts including firewalls, IPSEC/SSL VPNs, and certificates.
  • Experience or familiarity with SD-WAN technology is preferred.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and automation tools like Ansible is a plus.
  • Certification. CCIE preferred, CCNP or equivalent is required.
