We are seeking a skilled MS SQL Database Specialist with extensive experience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide expert knowledge and support for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases. Your responsibilities will include database management, performance tuning, migration, and ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and manage SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.
• Implement and automate tasks using PowerShell scripts.
• Ensure backup and recovery procedures meet business Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
• Troubleshoot and resolve database service outages, including after-hours and weekends.
• Optimize performance by identifying resource-intensive queries and recommending improvements.
• Design and manage indexes for existing applications.
• Handle SQL Server migrations from older to newer versions.
• Perform cross-platform migrations (e.g., Oracle to SQL, Oracle to DB2, MySQL to PostgreSQL).
• Implement high availability solutions using clustering, log shipping, mirroring, SQL Azure, Always ON, and Oracle Data Guard.
• Configure DBMS monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
• Implement automation solutions using PowerShell scripts.
• Document the company’s database environment comprehensively.
• Ensure database code adheres to company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
• Advise developers on efficient database designs, including tables, datatypes, stored procedures, and functions.
• Provide recommendations for improving database performance and resolving query issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in database management, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases.
• Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation.
• Comprehensive experience with SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.
• Experience with high availability solutions (e.g., Always ON, SQL Azure, Oracle Data Guard).
• Familiarity with cross-platform database migrations and performance tuning.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
• Experience in performance tuning and optimization.

Desirable Skills

1. Additional Technologies. Familiarity with other database systems and technologies (e.g., DB2, MySQL).
2. Application Performance Tuning. Implementation experience in application performance tuning and optimization.
