Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Azure Architect to join our team remotely for a contract opportunity with one of our prominent simulation software engineering clients. In this role, you will be at the forefront of a critical application rationalization project tasked with migrating and re-engineering applications to the Azure platform. You will be responsible for designing innovative solutions, documenting your work thoroughly, and collaborating with development teams to ensure successful implementation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with deep Azure expertise to make an impact on a large-scale transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Designing and Implementing Azure Solutions. You will be responsible for designing scalable and reliable cloud architectures using Azure Container Apps and related technologies. This includes ensuring containerized applications are properly managed and auto-scaling and traffic-splitting strategies are implemented for optimal performance.
  2. Containerization & Management. You will lead efforts to containerize legacy and new applications, managing their entire lifecycle and integrating them into Azure's cloud environment for efficient, secure, and scalable deployment.
  3. Serverless Compute & Automation. You will design event-driven, serverless compute solutions, leveraging Azure Function Apps, Logic Apps, and Durable Functions to build reliable, long-running workflows and complex workflow automation.
  4. API Management & Event-Driven Architecture. You will be tasked with designing and managing Azure APIs, integrating event-driven architectures using Azure Event Grid, Event Hub, and Service Bus, and ensuring that all components work cohesively in the cloud ecosystem.
  5. Collaboration & Documentation. As the Azure Architect, you'll work closely with the development teams, ensuring that software engineering documents are accurately created and handed off. Your documentation will serve as the foundation for development work and will guide the implementation process.

Must-Have Qualifications

  1. 8+ years of Microsoft Azure Architecture experience, with hands-on expertise in cloud design and implementation.
  2. Azure DevOps, Biceps, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Event Grid, Event Hub, and Microsoft Fabric Technologies. Proficiency in these is essential for designing, developing, and managing robust Azure solutions.
  3. Event-Driven Architecture. You should have direct experience in leveraging Azure Event Grid, Event Hub, and Service Bus to design and implement event-driven architectures that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
  4. Kubernetes. Strong experience with managing and deploying containers using Kubernetes, ensuring efficient orchestration of workloads.
  5. API Management. Experience implementing and managing Azure APIs, ensuring secure and scalable integrations.
  6. Consulting Background. A solid background in consulting, with a demonstrated ability to work with clients to understand their needs, provide expert guidance, and deliver tailored solutions.
  7. Strong Communication Skills. As an architect, you'll be expected to communicate complex technical ideas clearly, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and provide concise documentation and decision-making support.
