Tech Mahindra is seeking an experienced Mainframe Technical SME with a deep understanding of Mainframe technologies and modernization solutions. This individual will play a key role in driving Mainframe modernization and cloud integration initiatives for legacy systems, ensuring successful transformations in both on-premise and cloud environments.

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for handling and providing technical leadership in Mainframe technologies, working on cloud solutions like AWS, Azure, Micro Focus, and other related platforms. Your role will involve working with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to evaluate legacy systems, perform Proof of Concepts (POC), and ensure the successful implementation of Mainframe modernization projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mainframe Technical Leadership. Oversee and drive Mainframe technologies, including z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, Cobol, JCL, REXX, RACF, and various scheduling tools. Provide hands-on expertise to guide teams through Mainframe modernization efforts.
2. Mainframe Modernization & Cloud Solutions. Work on cloud solutions (AWS, Azure) for Mainframe modernization, handling both on-premise and cloud integration (e.g., Microfocus, Tmaxsoftware, Lzlabs, TSRI). Lead Proof of Concept (POC) activities in cloud environments to evaluate modernization options.
3. Customer & Stakeholder Interaction. Engage with customers, stakeholders, and senior executives to understand business needs, identify opportunities for Mainframe modernization, and deliver solutions accordingly.
4. Mainframe Industry Enablement. Organize and deliver learning sessions for internal teams, sharing knowledge on the latest trends in Mainframe technologies, tools, and modernization practices.
5. Legacy System Evaluation & Implementation. Lead evaluations of existing legacy systems, assess their readiness for modernization, and oversee the implementation of solutions in line with business requirements.
6. Tech Forums & Problem Solving. Actively participate in Mainframe tech forums, solving complex problems and contributing to ongoing learning and development within the organization.

Required Qualifications

1. Experience. 12+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe technologies and toolsets.
2. Technical Expertise. In-depth experience with z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, Cobol, JCL, REXX, RACF, and Schedulers.
3. Mainframe Modernization. Proven experience with Mainframe modernization, especially with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and tools like Micro Focus, Lzlabs, Tmaxsoftware, or TSRI.
4. Proof of Concept (POC). Ability to independently perform POCs in the available infrastructure and guide the evaluation of modernization options.
5. Customer Engagement. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to meet and collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and senior executives.
6. Learning and Knowledge Sharing. Proven ability to conduct enablement sessions, mentor teams, and contribute to Mainframe industry learning.

Desired Skills

1. Degree. A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institute.
2. Cloud & Modernization Tools. Familiarity with cloud hosting options and Mainframe modernization tools.
3. Communication & Problem Solving. Strong problem-solving skills, along with the ability to articulate complex solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
