As a Machine Learning Operations Engineer III, you will play a crucial role in developing robust machine learning pipelines that process vast amounts of data at scale and speed. Partnering with our Machine Learning Science team, you will help transform Expedia’s data assets into intelligent, real-time insights that support over 1,000 market managers, analysts, supply partners, and travelers. You will work with a diverse technology stack, including Spark, Sagemaker, Airflow, Databricks, Kubernetes, AWS, and more.

Who You Are

1. Education. Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field.
2. Technical Skills. Proficient in programming languages such as Scala, Python, or Java, with hands-on experience in Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), design patterns, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
3. ML Operations Experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine learning operations, with knowledge of the ML lifecycle and deployment of ML models.
4. Hadoop Ecosystem. Familiar with Hadoop technologies, including Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
5. Cloud Services. Experience using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
6. Agile Methodologies. Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.
7. Machine Learning Knowledge. High-level understanding of machine learning pipelines and experience with frameworks like TensorFlow.
8. Real-time Applications. Experience in developing real-time streaming applications using Spark and Kafka/KStreams.
9. Workflow Management. Familiar with workflow management tools, such as Airflow.

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of Machine Learning engineers and Data Scientists to design and code large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines on AWS.
• Prototype creative solutions and develop minimum viable products (MVPs) while implementing the technical vision of the team.
• Effectively communicate and work with geographically distributed teams.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality, flexible code.
• Troubleshoot data and system issues, helping to unblock team members as necessary.
• Drive continuous improvement in software and development processes within an Agile team.
• Engage in user story creation and maintain technical documentation.
