We are looking for an experienced Linux Administrator with 4 to 10 years of experience to join our team in Mumbai. As a Linux Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing Linux-based systems, supporting infrastructure and ensuring optimal performance. Your role will require you to be proactive in addressing issues, managing system upgrades, ensuring system security, and maintaining high availability for services. You will work closely with various teams to ensure seamless integration of services and help in troubleshooting technical problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage security measures for both internet and intranet systems. This includes vulnerability assessments (VA) and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Install, configure, and manage intrusion detection systems, firewalls, and data backup/recovery mechanisms.
- Ensure security through effective access controls and regular backups.
- Monitor system performance and take appropriate action to optimize resources and maintain smooth functioning according to business requirements.
- Handle system troubleshooting for any issues, outages, or disruptions in system performance.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions are implemented and maintained effectively.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Linux servers and ensure systems are running the latest software and patches.
- Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure, including managing applications and databases.
- Manage virtual servers and provide server scaling as needed to meet growing infrastructure demands.
- Integrate automation processes to streamline system administration tasks, ensuring efficiency and reducing human error.
- Configure and manage virtual environments, and ensure system resources are effectively allocated.
- Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts to resolve hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal disruption to end users.
- Oversee the setup of user accounts, workstations, and software applications.
- Ensure system upgrades and patches are completed regularly, with timely application of new releases and updates to ensure system security and functionality.
Key Skills & Experience
- 4-10 years of hands-on experience as a Linux Administrator managing enterprise-scale Linux environments.
- Linux systems administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
- Experience in system security, including configuring intrusion detection systems and managing firewalls.
- Proficient in cloud infrastructure management and backup processes.
- Virtualization and server scaling experience.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting tools for system management (e.g., Shell scripting, Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
- Experience in network management, including troubleshooting network issues and monitoring system performance.
Tools & Platforms
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proficiency with tools for server monitoring, data backup, and disaster recovery.
- Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with development teams, IT support, and other stakeholders to ensure systems are aligned with business needs.
- Participate in change management processes to ensure smooth deployment of new systems and updates.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed technical documentation related to system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and ongoing maintenance activities.
- Report on system performance, issues, and resolutions to management.
Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
