You will lead a team of engineers in executing essential design tasks, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise in physical design methodologies will guide the team through complex challenges in electronic design automation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Team Leadership. Lead and mentor a team of engineers to successfully complete physical design tasks, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality benchmarks.
  2. Physical Design Execution. Oversee key activities such as
  3. Floorplanning. Strategically plan the layout of the design to optimize area and performance.
  4. Synthesis. Manage logic synthesis to transform high-level designs into gate-level representations.
  5. Placement. Ensure optimal placement of components to meet design requirements.
  6. Clock Tree Synthesis (CTS). Design and implement clock distribution networks for optimal timing.
  7. Routing. Direct routing processes to establish signal pathways while considering design constraints.
  8. Static Timing Analysis (STA). Analyze timing performance to ensure design meets specified requirements.
  9. Physical Verification. Conduct verification processes to ensure compliance with manufacturing and design rules.
  10. Power Efficiency. Evaluate and implement strategies for power reduction, including IR-Drop and electromigration (EM) analysis.
  11. Process Improvement. Lead efforts in physical design flow development and automation, ensuring efficient integration of new technologies and methodologies.
  12. Vendor and Technology Evaluation. Assess and recommend appropriate technology, IP, and vendors for design projects, contributing to decision-making processes.
  13. Communication. Provide clear and concise updates on project progress, challenges, and risks to the management team, ensuring transparency and alignment.

Required Qualifications

  1. Education. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Experience. 10+ years of experience in physical design, with a proven track record of successful tapeouts for complex ASICs using advanced technologies.

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Synthesis
  • Floorplanning
  • Placement
  • Power/clock grid construction
  • Routing

Low power design methodologies

  1. Signoff processes (Functional Verification, Low Power Verification, Extraction, STA, EMIR, Physical Verification, Power Analysis)
  2. Scripting Skills. Proficiency in scripting languages for design automation and process improvement.
  3. Macro Development. Experience in creating and delivering hard macros, along with knowledge of integration guidelines for System-on-Chips (SoCs).
  4. Foundry Knowledge. Familiarity with foundry technology files and design rule decks.
