At Google, the work of a Software Engineering Manager goes beyond traditional software engineering. You'll not only provide technical leadership on major projects but also manage a team of Engineers, ensuring they optimize their code and meet project goals effectively. This role is pivotal in contributing to product strategy and guiding teams across various domains such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, system design, networking, security, and more.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects, with 2 years in a people management or team leadership role.
- Experience with front end frameworks (e.g., AngularJS, ReactJS, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cloud technologies and applications.
- Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, and Angular.
- Passion for designing, building, and optimizing responsive and elegant web applications.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the front end for Google Cloud Backup and Disaster Recovery (GCBDR), focusing on Full Stack features.
- Manage and mentor a team of 9-12 engineers, specializing in building admin experiences (UI and console-based) for GCBDR customers.
- Collaborate closely with UX, UX Researchers, Program Management, and Partner Engineering teams to deliver high-quality admin experiences.
- Scale the Admin Experience team by implementing effective processes and practices.
- Oversee career development and performance management for software engineers under your leadership.
