Job Description

As a DevOps Developer, you will be part of the IBM Technology Zone, focusing on building and maintaining tooling to ensure the availability, performance, and continuity of various workloads. You’ll collaborate closely with automation and infrastructure teams to enhance IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, and on-premises operations. Your role involves contributing to site reliability engineering (SRE), automation, and supporting complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain tooling for monitoring and managing the availability, performance, and capacity of Technology Zone Certified Base Images.
  • Utilize TechZone automation to develop new content patterns and address business needs.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, address production outages, and implement improvements to enhance reliability.
  • Work with the Automation team and Cloud Leads to identify and execute improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Support stakeholders in managing complex minimum viable products (MVPs).
  • Develop expertise in relevant coding languages (e.g., Python, Typescript, Node.js, GoLang, Java).
  • Utilize automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Powershell) to streamline operations.
  • Manage and support RedHat OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with IBM Cloud, VMware, AWS, and Azure.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Minimum of 3 years of expertise in at least one coding language: Python, Typescript, Node.js, GoLang, or Java.
  • At least 2 years of experience with automation tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Powershell.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with RedHat OpenShift or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with IBM Cloud, VMware, AWS, and Azure, with competency in at least three of these technologies.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) methodologies and technologies like SAML and LDAP.
  • Deep understanding of Hybrid Cloud technologies and strategies, including IBM’s OCP, Cloud Pak, and Services strategy.
