Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and tech-savvy Database Administrator to join our team. This role is designed for individuals who are experienced in administering Linux-based systems, managing cloud environments, and working with SQL and NoSQL databases. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain, improve, and design our data platforms. You will play a key role in managing databases such as Oracle, Couchbase, Elasticsearch, and Redis, while also supporting software teams through deployment and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Database Management. Maintain, upgrade, and improve SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL (Couchbase, Elasticsearch, Redis) databases.
  2. Cloud Infrastructure. Leverage AWS services (e.g., EC2, ASG, CloudWatch, IAM, CloudFormation) to manage and optimize cloud environments.
  3. Automation and Scripting. Automate database provisioning, schema changes, and infrastructure deployments using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  4. Data Security. Ensure data security and compliance with best practices.
  5. Backup & Recovery. Design and implement strategies for data backup, recovery, and archiving.
  6. Performance Optimization. Optimize database performance by creating indexes, improving query efficiency, and refining data structures.
  7. Collaboration. Work closely with client teams throughout the application lifecycle, from planning to production deployment.
  8. Process Improvement. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and enhance operational processes.
  9. Support. Provide critical support for applications and infrastructure, including post-production activities.
  10. Problem Solving. Research and drive solutions to complex database challenges, including proof-of-concept initiatives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience administering Linux-based systems.
  • Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, ASG, CloudWatch, IAM, and CloudFormation.
  • Expertise with SQL (Oracle) and NoSQL databases (Couchbase, Elasticsearch, Redis).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Tech-savvy, with a passion for technology and innovation.

Preferred

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development and/or IT operations, particularly in high-load, internet-facing service ecosystems.
