PhonePe is seeking a Data Scientist with 3-5 years of experience to join our fast-paced and dynamic team. As a Data Scientist, you will have the opportunity to implement cutting-edge machine learning algorithms at scale, work with large datasets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex business problems. You’ll be expected to have a strong foundation in machine learning and will benefit from knowledge of computer vision (CV) and natural language processing (NLP).

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and Deploy Machine Learning Models. Implement both offline batch models and real-time online models, with a focus on edge computing.
2. Data Analysis and Insights. Analyze large, complex datasets to uncover insights and drive strategic business decisions.
3. Cross-functional Collaboration. Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to identify and address business challenges using data-driven approaches.
4. Stakeholder Communication. Present findings, insights, and actionable recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Required Qualifications

1. Education. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
2. Experience. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist.

Technical Proficiency

• Strong expertise in Python and SQL.
• Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling techniques, and model evaluation.
• Familiarity with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision (CV) concepts and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience in implementing and deploying machine learning models at scale.
• Experience with data visualization tools and techniques to present actionable insights.
• Problem-Solving. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from data.
• Communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Big Data Expertise. Experience with PySpark and other big data processing frameworks.
2. Deep Learning. Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
3. Database Knowledge. Familiarity with databases and tools like mlflow for machine learning lifecycle management.
4. Mathematics & Statistics. A strong background in statistics, linear algebra, and probability theory.

Technical Skills

1. Programming Languages. Strong proficiency in Python (required), SQL (required), with basic knowledge of Java being a plus.
2. Machine Learning. Expertise in traditional machine learning algorithms, with a working knowledge of NLP and Computer Vision.
3. Big Data. Experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing.
4. Version Control. Proficient in using Git for version control.
5. Data Storage & Retrieval. Experience with databases and familiarity with mlflow preferred.

Soft Skills

1. Communication. Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
2. Problem-Solving. Ability to think analytically and find creative solutions to complex challenges.
3. Teamwork. Self-motivated and comfortable working independently or in a team environment.
