Job Description

Amazon is a data-driven company with a strong focus on metrics, and as a Data Analyst within the ICQA (Inventory Control and Quality Assurance) team, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to provide insights into inventory and quality management processes. Your work will involve designing, developing, and automating data systems and reports to support business decisions, quality defect tracking, and inventory adjustments. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to collaborate across departments such as ICQA, Learning, and Finance.

As an ICQA Data Analyst, you will contribute directly to the business by identifying trends in defect data, streamlining data collection processes, and creating actionable insights. You will also help develop tools and systems to improve operational efficiency and support decision-making at various levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement efficient data collection processes and data management systems for tracking inventory and quality defects.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and the proper collection of data for analysis.
  • Design and write SQL queries to extract, compile, and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Create and design reports, charts, and graphs to visualize data for reporting purposes.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards using Tableau and Amazon QuickSight to support decision-making and deep-dive analysis activities.
  • Provide insights into defect trends and inventory adjustments, performing in-depth research and root cause analysis.
  • Prepare business reports for regular review cycles, including Weekly Business Reviews (WBR), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), and Project Updates.
  • Develop automation solutions for data analysis using Python scripts to improve efficiency and repeatability in generating insights.
  • Collaborate with the ICQA, Learning, and Finance teams to provide analytical support and insights.
  • Assist leadership in interpreting data trends and make actionable recommendations.
  • Present data insights in easily digestible formats through standard reports, making complex data accessible for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform data mining to uncover patterns or trends that may impact operations.
  • Solve problems related to data accuracy, inventory discrepancies, and quality defects, providing actionable solutions.
  • Support projects and initiatives led by the ICQA and Learning teams, ensuring data-driven decisions are based on reliable insights.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Data Warehouse reporting, query design, and querying web sources.
  • Proficient in writing complex SQL queries to analyze large datasets and extract meaningful insights.
  • Experience working with Amazon QuickSight for data visualization and dashboard creation.
  • Proficient in Python (or Julia) for data automation and scripting tasks.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a focus on math, statistics, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, to effectively present data insights and collaborate with teams.
  • Familiarity with AWS services, including Redshift, Lambda, and S3.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated initiative in developing tools, data collection processes, and data management systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Experience with Oracle & Web Technologies:
  • Experience with Oracle databases and technologies like Ruby on Rails and HTML.
  • Proven ability to work productively and efficiently in an independent setting.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with managers, associates, and cross-functional teams at all levels.
  • A solid understanding of business objectives and the ability to apply a global perspective to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to work with accuracy in managing data and generating reports.
  • Statistical modeling experience including ML (Machine Learning), forecasting, and predictions.
  • Familiarity with modern web frameworks like Streamlit or Genie for building data-driven applications.
