The Cloud Solution Architect (CSA) role at Microsoft is critical for accelerating customer digital transformation by leveraging Microsoft technologies, particularly within the Microsoft Cloud ecosystem. As a CSA, you will work directly with customers to design, architect, and implement cloud solutions that meet their business needs, ensuring they achieve maximum value from their cloud investments.

This position requires you to gather customer insights, propose digital transformation solutions, and coach team members on delivering high-quality customer experiences. The role involves working with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, Azure Stack, and VMware solutions. Additionally, the CSA plays a pivotal role in driving cloud adoption and consumption by aligning technical capabilities with customer requirements, resolving blockers, and providing strategic technical leadership.

Responsibilities

1. Gather Customer Insights. Collect feedback on customer needs, technical environments, business requirements, and competitor solutions. Use this information to map architecture and propose digital transformation solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
2. Voice of the Customer (VOC). Represent customers within Microsoft by providing feedback to engineering teams, influencing product and service design, and prioritizing customer needs.
3. Drive Customer Success. Work proactively to identify customer needs and ensure a seamless experience by anticipating dissatisfaction and resolving issues before they impact the customer.
4. Foster Customer Relationships. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to drive successful cloud adoption. Work with customers to remove technical blockers and ensure that they are achieving the desired outcomes with Microsoft cloud solutions.
5. Growth & Consumption. Leverage your understanding of Microsoft’s products, services, and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities for growth and consumption. Align with customer success teams to drive usage, cost optimization, and improved operational efficiency.
6. Technical Optimization. Provide guidance on architecture design, resiliency reviews, and technical optimization, ensuring that customer solutions are robust, scalable, and performant.
7. Lead and Mentor. As a CSA Pod Lead, guide and mentor junior team members, ensuring efficient project planning, delivery, and customer relationship management. Be accountable for capacity planning, skilling, and utilization of team members.
8. Knowledge Sharing & Development. Share your expertise and insights across the internal Microsoft community. Participate in technical events, blogs, and forums to keep the broader team informed and engaged.
9. Continuous Improvement. Drive innovation by identifying gaps in existing intellectual property and offering improvements. Contribute to the development and reuse of best practices and collaborate on creating new IP that drives customer success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, IT consulting, systems administration, network operations, software development, architecture, or technology solutions. OR
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field, with 6+ years of relevant experience in cloud technologies, architecture, and consulting.
• Technical Certifications. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or relevant security certifications.
• Experience with Virtualization Technologies: Knowledge of Hyper-V, Azure Stack, and/or VMware solutions.

Additional Requirements

• This role requires Australian citizenship due to security clearance requirements for government clients.
