As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in helping customers design, develop, and optimize their data pipelines and processing systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, provide recommendations for cloud-based solutions, and work on data modernization projects. This role requires expertise in Big Data processing, cloud-based data storage, data governance, and security controls.
Your work will directly impact how enterprises across different industries build scalable, secure, and highly efficient data platforms. You will also be responsible for delivering workshops, providing technical guidance, and collaborating with Google's Product Management and Engineering teams to improve our cloud offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders, technical leads, and partners to understand business requirements and recommend appropriate data solutions on GCP.
- Architect, migrate, and operationalize cloud-native data storage and processing infrastructure.
- Lead high-velocity data migration and modernization initiatives to GCP, ensuring seamless transitions for customers.
- Develop and implement data governance and quality procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Optimize and build data pipelines using technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Scala to process and analyze large datasets.
- Design and implement scalable, production-grade Big Data solutions leveraging tools like BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
- Work with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible to automate deployment and management of cloud infrastructure.
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins to ensure continuous integration and deployment.
- Support machine learning and AI-driven analytics using frameworks like TensorFlow and SparkML.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for structured and semi-structured data.
- Travel to customer sites as needed to deploy solutions, provide hands-on training, and conduct educational workshops.
- Work closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to provide feedback and enhance Google Cloud's capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in developing and troubleshooting data processing algorithms.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java or Python.
- Strong knowledge of Big Data technologies, including Scala, Spark, and Hadoop frameworks.
- Experience with at least one public cloud provider, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing and implementing production-grade Big Data solutions in cloud-based environments.
- Knowledge of data mining, information retrieval, and machine learning technologies.
- Hands-on experience with modern NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) processes and their best practices.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
- Expertise in working with CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and software delivery.
- Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries for efficient data retrieval.
