Amazon is seeking a talented Applied Scientist to join the MENA Tech team to design and build cutting-edge products that will redefine the shopping experience in the Middle East. This role requires solving complex problems using advanced machine learning techniques and data science to drive innovation and enhance customer experiences.
Responsibilities
- Model Development. Leverage expertise in statistics and optimization to frame decision-making problems specifically for the MENA region. Build and implement statistical and machine learning models to address various business needs, including improving customer experience and optimizing delivery processes.
- Predictive Analytics. Use analytical and predictive techniques to forecast customer behavior and business conditions, enhancing profitability and customer retention.
- Model Deployment. Translate prototype models into production-quality, large-scale software systems. Ensure models are scalable and applicable across different markets.
- Collaboration. Work in a collaborative environment to balance speed and quality. Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills, think big, and simplify complex problems to create reusable solutions.
- Communication. Present proposals and results clearly, backed by data and actionable conclusions. Adapt models to consider local language compatibility and other region-specific factors.
Basic Qualifications
- Educational Background. PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience. 4+ years of experience building models for business applications. Proven experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
- Technical Skills. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages. Experience with algorithms and data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, and high-performance computing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep Learning Expertise. Experience in designing and optimizing state-of-the-art deep learning models, including model pruning.
- Architectural Knowledge. Understanding of architectural concepts, algorithms, and technical tradeoffs.
- Software Development. Professional experience in software development.
