       This is common question generaly ask by many new developers. Actually is ASP.NET is all about web development. there is lots of common things between Microsoft Front Page and ASP.NET. ASP.NET comes in picture while developing web application. whenever you drag drop something on page the code for same will automatically gets generated at back end we call it as page behind code and C#.net, vb.net,c++.net or J#.net  all are programing languages which we are normally use to develope desktop applications. same manner we will use this languages for web applicaitons to handel application thro code we call it as code behind.  hope You clear with it if not ask me again.

This question like sombody asking difference between driving and car.

there are many differences. such as, c# we can say as backend to asp.net. and in asp.net by drag and drop some controls the code automatically generated for that.
