WSS error while adding DB

While adding backup database in SharePoint site using STSADM command , i am getting an error .

"Databases must be empty before they can be used. Delete all of the tables, stored procedures and other objects or use a different database."

Database : Sql Server 2000

SharePoint : WSS 3.0

If i am adding fresh database, then it's working fine .

Please any idea ?
