what is the difference between windows services and WCF services as i am new VSTS2010?and which one is better if i am developing web application ?

Hi i am new in VSTS2010 i would like to know about what is the difference between windows services and WCF Services also wanted to know if i am developing an web application using Silverlight 5 which one is better either windows services or WCF Services ?
