What is service bus and when it is used

i never work with service bus. so i do not know what it is. anyone can tell me what is service bus and in what kind of scenario people use service bus ?

 

tell me few name of .net based free service bus library which i can try.

 

rabbitMQ should be consider as service bus ? guide me in details.
