Verifying Email Addresses

Hi,
I am new to this forum.

In my project, I have a task to verify the validity of an email address. I was verifying the validity of mail id syntactically, but it also has to be verified against whether that email address exists in that domain i.e., the addressee is active or not.

Help needed URGENT
