Using Web Services to develop a Forum

Hi everyone, I have been assigned to develop a web forum in asp.net using web services. I am confused as to how to implement web services for a web forum. I have done a forum website in asp using classes. Plese can someone explain to me the advantages of using web services for a forum web site. Thanks Raji
