Using a Config file for windows app across network?
Dec 6 2007 10:30 AM
Hey Everyone,
I have an application that I use on about 25+ machines across the organization that uses a config file to link to the SQL server database. If the PC w/ the SQL server fails, we have a backup machine with another SQL server database. The problem is, i would have to go to each machine, go into the config file and change the workstation ID to the new pc.
Is there a way, that i can create a config file, place it on the network where each PC can reach, and use that to globally change the application configuration as opposed to going to each PC to change it? I know for web apps, there is the config file which essentially is global, but what about for windows apps?
Thanks,
Brian
