Time table generation using genetic algorithm

hi i want to develop the asp.net website for the time table generation using genetic algorithm
but i am hearing the name genetic algorithm first time , i don't know any thing about that any links or codded projects if u suggest i will be happy
my req is to develop class shdule based on no of students,no of profs,no of rooms ,labs etc.... , i heared this can be done using genetic algorithm
