I want to set some fields as readonly. I could successfully set this for textbox controls. But couldn't do for textArea and DropDownBoxes. I did not find any attribute for this fields.
Please suggest me how to set them.

I do not want to disable the controls since that would make the inner text faded.
When I say readonly for dropdown box, it means that selection shouldn't be allowed.
In case of textarea also, I want to make it read only ,dont want to disable.

Try enabled property. That should work in IE, but may not in other browsers.And try handling keypress and mousepress events.
