starting SQL
Dec 19 2008 2:55 PM
This OUGHT to be the easiest thing in the darned world. I am on my third install of MS SQL (2005). After the install, everything runs fine for a few days, then the automatic start up (connect) stops working and I am unable to restart it.. until I re-install MS SQL. As of now, my best guess is that this may have something to do with a Norton Antivirus / AntiSpyware full scan being run?? This is the only thing I can think of....
So, what the heck is going on here? Why is it disconnecting? Why can't I re-connect? Is this a common problem??? if so, how on earth does anyone develop software for it??
Right now I am deeply frustrated with this product. Anyone with any advise is appreciated.
This is the error message I get.
TITLE: Browse Server for Database
------------------------------
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)
