SMTP send throws exception
Nov 23 2006 3:12 PM
Hello,
I've recently started using pop3/smtp for email transfers for some project but I have come to a problem with sending emails via smtp.
I am able to send the email to my temporary server, but now I am trying to get the program to connect to gmail server and send the email using the gmail server.
I understand that the code is pretty short since c# .net has made everything so much simpler, so right now all im doing is the following
first creating an instance of SmtpClient object and then add credentials, provide the server and ports.
finally when I add the message and try sending I get the following exception,
System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Failure sending mail. ---> System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

Does anyone know what could be wrong?
Thanks,
