SharePoint 2013 Provider hosted app

Question

Hi All,

 

Am Rathinavelu, a SharePoint developer. i wanna know why we need provider hosted app and how this provider hosted apps working. Also, Some forums are telling that provider hosted apps support ASP.net MVC pattern.

 

So, i would like to know, why and what is the purpose of having ASP.Net in provider hosted app that too with MVC pattern.
