Server role conversation failed in SharePoint 2016.

Question

Hi,

 

I am trying to convert the server role using the below powershell command from WebFrontEnd" role to "WebFrontEndWithDistributedCache" in SharePoint 2016 farm....but it is not happening getting error.

 

Set-SPServer -Identity "SERVERWFE" -Role WebFrontEndWithDistributedCache

 

Server Role Conversion Job’ timer job status says "Failed"....the error is as below:

 

There were one or more errors while converting the server role.. (Correlation=fe2eb48e-fb86-6140-ce72-d135c67263e7)

 

When I am trying to change the role thru CA UI...getting the below error.

 

Sorry, something went wrong

 

One or more servers failed to change their server roles. Use the Merge-SPLogFile Windows PowerShell cmdlet to search for Event ID "a72id" in the SharePoint ULS logs. Then examine the resulting log file to determine which servers failed to convert and the cause of the failure.

 

Windows events log says:

 

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.LMTRepopulationJob (ID 0781d4eb-4870-4c8a-81ed-851cad41dbbd) threw an exception. More information is included below.

 

Unexpected exception in FeedCacheService.IsRepopulationNeeded: Cache cluster is down, restart the cache cluster and Retry.. (Correlation=e55eb59e-2ba1-7030-2387-9a3bf8b20ae8)

 

Note: App Fabric service is running both in Application and WFE server.

 

Any help on the above issue is appreciated.
