run a script after the set up program

Question

I am working on a code where in I need to run a script immediately after a software is installed on the machine and again run the same script after the same software is uninstalled. Do i have to include the script as a part of the setup program during the deployment of the application? How can I accompish this ? does any one has any idea of how this can be done..? Please let me know if my question is not clear to you. Thanks for the help in advance. vspv
