Receiving a record from database on basis of id

Question

Hi 

I want when user opens the form and fills the emp Id......  all the text boxes present in form  (differrent information for a particular employee should be filled )but at  the same time the text boxes should be kept disabled and when user will click on edit button then the user should be able to edit the information (txt boxes should be enabled) so that user can enter the data in text box
