Read the last Value inserted of a Field in a List Item

Better you can use jquery and rest api and get the last inserted value from sharepoint list.

 

Example:

 

site URL/_api/web/Lists/GetByTitle('List Name')/items?$top=1&$select=ID&$orderby=ID desc

If you are using SharePoint list with C# coding then write the caml query to sort the list descending order and get the latest one and display/bind the value of the field in textbox.
