Program LED Panel to display messages

Hey,
I have a fully functional LED panel.I would like to display SMS messages on it using C# codes. Is it better to connect the LED panel to the PC using LAN connection or using COM port. Which is easier to program?And how do you display text on the panel with C# codes.??
