Path reference of image folder and css

Hello,
I wonder that I specify a path of image folder in css file as below.

background: #FFF url(../images/bg.gif) repeat-x;

At my develop computer is no problem . BUT...

the images did not show once I deploy to production computer.... why ?

any expert please advice....
