Panel Controls

Question

I have a Windows Form that displays a menu panel on the left, and a main content panel on the right.  When the user selects a menu option to change the content in the main panel, the main panel is set equal to the chosen content panel and refresh.  The panel changes to the new panel (verified by backColor), but why don't the controls on the new panel show up? I created the content panels using the designer.
