On the local network Step by step

Hello to all!

 

 

I would like to learn something and I went to the Net I saw the same question coming to people that want to know how to connect to a sql server 2008  r8 Database on a server. But concerning me I don't really have a server (it's just two computers (one as a "server" and other as a client. Both with windows 7) connected on a local network. But tell me something, before to jumb to complex staff. Which step to start first after creating my application and want to use that database from my client (saving, deleting, filtering,...). Step by step please... I want to LEARN.
