.nullvalue help command execute during execution of .separator command

I had executed .nullvalue STRING and .separator STRING help commands yesterday in SQLite. Now when I execute .separator command, it do his work but it also place STRING in place of NULL. This doesn't happen when I simply execute select statement on table. Can anybody please explain what can be the reason behind this
