with this it gave me an answer. but now with the same button click event i want
a result = second - third
and a result = third - third
and a result = third + third

so if you can help me with an example; coz all of this should happen on the same button click event and save to the text file.

I mean like i want to

third - third;
second - third;

and it should give an answer and disply it in the text file

You'll need to go through the same rigmarole again for each calculation.

However, if the results are all to be saved to the same file, then you'll need to use File.AppendAllLines rather than File.WriteAllLines.

Let me make it more clear. like the calculation: result = first + second + third;
I also want tit to do
 first-first;
first + first
third +third;
 second;
 third;
first;
 second - third;
second + second + third+third
and show all the diverent times with the dates in the same text file

How do i do multiple calculations? like the first one, but it has to subtract the last 2. 4-4 and still save everything to the same file

It sounds like you've missed out this line:

   fileNum++;

which will be incremented each time the button is pressed and thereby generate a new file name to save the calculations to.

but now i have the problem of the text file. it keeps on saving to the same text file. Every time i say save a new text file should be created, not replace the previous one

To do all that, you'll need to change the code as follows:

private int fileNum = 0; // need this form level variable to count the files

What i mean with the 30 days thing. It should show all 30 previous days and all 30 future days

It will be saved to the current directory.

To find it quickly, I'd use a full path. The following should do as a temporary measure:

System.IO.File.WriteAllLines(@"c:\henry.txt", lines);

You'll need to use a custom DateTime format if you only want to print the day and time to the file.

To add days to today use

DateTime d = DateTime.Today.AddDays(-30);// use minus to subtract (30) to add
to get string value use
d.ToString();

To write a text file use

Yes that is exactly what i want.

but with todays date and time the time should be the same for time for 30 days forward and backward : example todays date: Sunday 16:00(if it goes backward its gona be saturday 16:00, vryday 16:00...etc. and forward monday 16:00, tuesday 16:00...etc) and then save all to a text file.

So is this what you want ?
1: Get a time from the textbox - will have to be less than 24hrs otherwise it will be tomorrow
2: From day of entry (today) we need the date 30 days back and 30 days forward
3: Save all to text file

I have limited time tonight so hopefully someone else will join in to help 7.15pm here

I want the answer to be shown as time. so the 16 should be 16:00. and then it should also get a date : From the day entered. exaple : Sunday 16:00. and it should then generate that same time 30 days forward and 30 days backward and when i click save all the dates and times should save to a text file

But if i enter 5,5,20,20,10,10,1,1

it gives me the amswer 15 and it should be 16

Well in the text box what i have entered will stay the same, only when i click on save it should save the answer to a text file.

so in the case i stated the "5,5,...."

So it has to do 5+3+4 = 12 and then it should show in time format. 12:00
