Mysql exception in c#

Question

hi,
i am working in a c#.net project in which Mysql have been used. So i am getting an exception when we are retriveing the records from the database for generating the report,  the exception is

"Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding."
i have an solution by setting the command timeout but my boss refused to implement it , so i need a different a different solution. Please help me .
