Hype Category plugin for Elgg 1.8 vesrion using PHP

Question

Hai this is chaitanya recently i started developing the elgg social networking site which is of 1.8 version i am new to php development and presently i want to upgrade the Hype category plugin from 1.7 version to 1.8 version can any one please help me how to achive the goal .
