we are having sharepoint server 2007 farm with sp1 (Version:12.0.0.6291). since we are using it from last 2 years we have got a good user base (400-500) who uses the sharepoint intranet portal everyday. what are the things should i consider before migrating. i have seen couple of arcticles on upgrading. according to the microsoft upgrade is not supported on office sharepoint server with sp1. so i have to upgrade it to sp2 first and then to 2010?.
we are trying to move the farm itself from virtual to physical standard server and we got a new database sever so we have to the database as well. what should i need to consider before moving the whole farm.
we are having not having so much customizations in our farm but there are lot of workflows running ans InfoPath forms also(which is call a other web service for Database).
how much downtime can i expect?. what about workflows if farm is upgraded will they continue working or stopped.
