How to set an Expiry Date for web application using ASP.Net

Hi Francis,

 

 Requirement is like that if we change date also in server it should not affect the license details 

and Both Application and DB Server also with client only and  they work in only LAN Network so they don't Have Internet Connection to access UTC Time or IST to set License expiry Date in coding

 What you said is correct when i want to check current date and time i need to use DateTime.Now   but if i use this it will get server Time based on this Process will go on For example Product is Licensed upto 15/12/2015 and today date is 16/12/2015 it should  show license Expired, ok it will show well if Server date is Changed to 14/12/2015 again Application will work to avoid this am looking for new idea 

 

And i have tried Based on Indian Standard Time through Internet it made suceessfully , But am looking for without internet and system DateTime to get Today date

Since you are developing internet (web) application, it is hosted somewhere in client base. right?

In that case, if a user login to the system, at that time it will interact with your DB server and check for that particular client the date is expire or not. If not it will allow to login otherwise not.

 it's not a common DB it's like a product DB Server also their with Client Side so only we need to do in Application because after Publishing of our code they can't find any expiry dates

I meant that, you should store the "Installation Date" and "Expiry Date" on your DB SERVER. Not on client DB Server. The application always (say whenever the user login) interact with your DB Server and check for that particular client, stored Expire Date is not greater than the CURRENT DATE OF YOUR DB SERVER. Regarding DATE, it will always consider YOUR SERVER DATE (Which should be in a correct date always). Not on client's SERVER Date.

Thanq for your Reply on this post , we are also using same concept like encryption and saving it in DB Table and Based on that we are setting Expiry Date but in this if we change Server Date Again Application is working but it should work like that based on server date

Yes. You can do it. Just encrypt it and store your "installation" date and  "expiry" date somewhere with in the application, so whenever the user login check the expiry date and proceed further.

In the above scenario, you must relay on "system" or DB server date.

 

As an alternative, since you are using web application, whenever the application installed on the server, make an entry to "your" DB table (like client name, installation date, and expiry date). So whenever the application starts or user login, it should interact with your DB and check for the expiration date. If anything fails (if it unable to contact your DB server or the application expired). This is the simple idea that i have expreienced previously.
